This site honors the historic 1962 founding of the Grandassa Models by Elombe and Kwame Brathwaite, AJASS (African Jazz Art Society and Studies), Carlos Cooks, Bob Gumbs, and all courageous original models who launched the “Black is Beautiful” movement.
