BRENDA EVANS
My creation day is September 30, 1943. My birthday event was June 30, 1944. I explain this to claim bold ownership and expose my true existence of this phase of my journey, often referred to as Life. My seed was jolted from the home of my Dad's phallus beholding all intention of reaching the plateau of my mom's, womb where I will vibrantly connect to the awaiting ovum and together we became one with the innerstanding of the assignment of growth, of purpose, of worth. In our new home we will become one. As I evolved I was rocked in my first cradle, the womb. I was fed without utensils, bathed, groomed by the natural and instinctive knowledge of a mothers love and her unbiased nature. My womb experience was that of warmth, tenderness, intimacy, devotion, and concern. Priority prevailed as I continued to evolve into the Most High's will of perfection and excellence!
Fast forward 3 thru 9 yrs. old. Hearing the words nappy hair, Black, big nose, big lips, all being said with such distain especially realizing those distain words fit my mirrored reflection! Discomfort developed about my worth. Shame developed about my shade, about my unruly, un straight hair! I agonized at every bath that the black didn't fade. Being told to stay out of the sun! "It's not good for you. " But it was okay for my cousin Myrna… Myrna had light skin.
Hearing the illuminated slurs: If you're black, stay back If you're brown, stick around If you're yellow, stay mellow But if you're white, Ya alright.
I am 9 years old in our kitchen. My mom is straightening my hair when I asked "mommy why do we have to straighten and burn our hair?" Her answer gave reference to cleaning the kitchen and throwing out the garbage. "Gotta keep the kitchen clean and get rid of the garbage". Sooo, my 9 yr. old interpretation was my hair was washed and the naps were gotten rid of via the straightening comb. Yeah the burning of my neck! and my sides! YEAH THAT PART!!! That would remain my journey with the shrinking of my importance, my dignity, my worth, my meaningfulness, my significance, my love for self…
I was constantly reminded that all my rewards will come in the end. So. I was mentally fixated to UNDERSTAND MY PURPOSE. I waspyschologically dressed to perform as TOLD! I knew what depression was at a young age. Because of the love shared and the acceptance of my family and friends I did succeed educationally cause we all attended schools of hard knocks, lies and forbidden brain slaughter! States of self hatred was my backdrop til…til…till…my senior year in High School….Grace Dodge, to be exact. A student 2 grades behind me, approached me with a flyer to attend Natrually 62' show. She described the nature of the show and needless to say I held on to all that was told to me. Her name was Patricia Thomas. She was a Grandassa Model.I remember having a rushing feeling of ecstasy, discovery! I thanked her tremendously. I held onto that flyer like it was the winning lottery ticket! Needless to say I washed my hair and wore it with a ball of hair on the top center of my head. My mom informed me that I will not be allowed to take my graduation pictures with my hair like that!!! I obeyed. My Mom then let me know I was not going to where my hair in that state for graduation either. I obeyed. Now pics and graduation are over!!! I washed my hair, brushed it to the top of my head and formed a ball. My mom told me, very gently, not to speak to her in the street. I said, very softly, ok mommy. My mom was not a mean mom by any stretch of imagination. My mom was a hurt mom. After all, she raised me better than that. Feel me??
LONG STORY, GETTING SHORTER! I attended the Naturally Show. I was approached by Elombe and Kwame at the end of show and was invited to join the GRANDASSA MODELS!!!!!! The models along with the masculine strengths, mentally and physically of AJASS ,re energized my awareness of my worth, of my purpose, of my God given right to SHINE, BECOME THE LIGHT FOR ALL TO SEE! THIS IS MY LIFE THUS FAR. AND I THANK THE MOST HIGHS, HIM AND HER FOR THE STRENGTH TO ENDURE, THE ABILITY TO EXPRESS, THE REVELATION OF RELEASE OF MY PERSONAL WAR/S IN THIS EVOLUTION OF MY LIFE. AS IT WAS, AS IT IS!!!! NAMASTE……….ASE'O BRENDA EVANS OMITADE OGUNYEMI
